Dr. Carlo Bellini<\/strong>, Dr. Valter Moreno<\/strong> and the doctoral candidate Pedro J\u00e1come<\/strong> presented papers at the 1st Information Systems in Latin America (ISLA) Conference (ISLA 2014)<\/strong>, held in Curitiba, Brazil. The papers were \u201c<\/em>Paradigms in Information Systems Research: The Deinstitutionalization of Terminological Tradition in the Field\u2019s Discourse<\/em>\u201c<\/em> (Mota, De Moura Jr. & Bellini), \u201c<\/em>Relev\u00e2ncia de Sistemas de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o na Forma\u00e7\u00e3o do Administrador Brasileiro<\/em>\u201c<\/em> (Moreno Jr., Graeml & Bellini) and \u201c<\/em>Mensura\u00e7\u00e3o na Pesquisa Qualitativa: Avaliando Possibilidades Criticamente<\/em>\u201c<\/em> (De Moura Jr.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The conference was an idea of Dr. Alexandre Graeml<\/strong> (UTFPR), who is an enthusiast of the IS field in Brazil. Starting with this first edition, the conference is expected to be held annually in a different city in Latin America. In 2014, the participants discussed the role of IS research in society and the ways the discipline has evolved over the years, with special attention given to the idiosyncrasies of IS in Latin America.
